John the baptist comes and preaches Gods word to those who did not know God yet. As people heard the words they came and confessed their sins and decided to follow Jesus. Then John baptises eveyone who have confessed. this shows that in our contemporary life, those who calls Jesus their father and king and if they follow God, should get baptised as thats what God wants and it was the way things were done in Jesus's time.
